Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs professional accounting work with responsibility in one or more areas of the University accounting system such as financial reporting, cost analysis and distribution, classification of accounts and funds, study of accounting systems and sponsored programs accounting.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general direction and with latitude to exercise independent judgment within established policy:

Grant maintenance

  • Work with other Sr. Acct resolving Grant out of Award issues

  • Monthly Grant Deficit Data compilation

  • Analyzing grant cash balances

Shared Resource Labs (SRL) and service centers

  • Work with SRL Admin Assistant to address billing issues

  • Monitor and track SRL external invoicing

  • Complete monthly SRL Financial projection and attend SRL financial meetings as necessary

  • Send out all SRL ledgers to SRL Directors on a monthly basis

  • Monitor SRL revenue and expenses and prepare monthly journal entries for SRLs

  • Monitor service center billings and monitor all service center activity monthly

  • Review over 35 service center budgets and provide support for service center administrators

  • Periodic Axiom data input for service centers and other budgets

General accounting support

  • Provide technical assistance to all SMD departments in regards to financial questions and UR Financials

  • Compile data for monthly Department Reports

  • Prepare other journal entries as necessary and approve journal entries from the journal mailbox when necessary (or frequently to relieve other department Sr. Acct. so that he can focus on higher level items)

Research Strategic Plan (RSP)

  • Prepare monthly RSP P&L

  • Track and manage RSP

  • Monitor RSP Spending on a monthly basis

Provide data and support with upcoming cost study

Complete equipment survey and assist with all space surveys

Ensure that equipment is up to date within UR Space for Dean for Research Cost Center

Prepare CTMF financial projections

Prepare monthly COVID Template Tracker Update working with areas within Dean for Research cost center to compile data

Other duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, and 3 years experience as a staff accountant; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
