The University of Rochester’s Statistics Program seeks applications for the position of a full-time senior lecturer. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for teaching who will contribute to our undergraduate Statistics curriculum. A successful candidate will be expected to have strong teaching skills and to demonstrate a thoughtful approach to statistical pedagogy. We are particularly seeking a candidate who has an interest in innovative pedagogical practices in introductory statistics courses and strong applied statistical analysis experience to further engage students from diverse academic backgrounds. This position starts July 1, 2023.

Duties and Responsibilities: The focus of this position will be on instruction. Teaching load will be five courses per year, with at least three of these courses being at the introductory level and remaining courses being intermediate-level and application based. There will be opportunities to develop new courses and work on curricular changes to existing courses as we continue refining our programs and course catalog. This position will also advise undergraduate students in course planning and in conducting applied research projects.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or related field, and at least five years teaching at the college level. The preferred candidate will have a passion for college teaching and have experience with innovative statistical pedagogy. Experience with the statistical computing environment R is required, and familiarity with SAS, JMP, and similar programs is also desirable.
