Responsibilities

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the LLE Accounting Manager, with latitude for exercise of independent judgment, performs professional accounting work at an operating level requiring knowledge and application of general accounting theory, techniques and practices and knowledge of the University accounting system.

Responsibilities:

Makes analyses of ledger accounts in order to confirm completeness and accuracy of data; uses judgment as to whether account balances are reasonable; examines accounting documents to ascertain that transactions are properly supported in accordance with University policy and procedures; initiates corrective action or recommends solutions as appropriate; prepares routine working papers, exhibits and summaries supporting findings and recommendations.

Expected to perform financial analysis requested by the Accounting Manager, LLE Controller, Division Directors, and Principal Investigators and to provide written and verbal communications. Periodic supervision of other clerical personnel and/or functions with accounting, ledger, property, procurement, payroll or budgetary responsibilities. Interfaces with sponsors, ORPA, University Audit and ORACS. Works with subaward institutions and university fully costed shops to develop budgets and resolve spending issues. Monitors special purpose funds for expenditures, obligations and prepares status reports.

Prepares a variety of financial statements or accounting reports, prepares analysis; manages property reconciliations, space surveys and participates in monthly financial reporting efforts, monitors and verifies corrections; assists in budget creation and management.

Reports to the LLE Accounting Manager.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with OMB circulars A-21, A-110, A-122 and grant accounting is desired. Proficiency in PC software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) is essential. CLASP certification is highly desirable.
