We require a very wellorganized and highly motivated individual who seeks to contribute substantially to the overall research mission of the lab. Must be able to work both independently and in support capacity with other lab members. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient and possess good critical, analytical and communication skills. Primary responsibilities are described below. Weekend work will be required at times, based upon experimental schedules. Interest and willingness to learn new techniques are an essential job component. Opportunities to publish will be available for qualified individuals.
Responsibilities will include generation recombinant DNA constructs to monitor and manipulate T cell activation, production of retroviruses for transduction of T cells, immunization and infection to induce T cell responses in vivo, isolation of T cells from murine tissue, and in vitro biochemical, molecular, and functional analysis of T cell activation. The Technical Associate will be responsible for managing an animal colony, supervising and teaching lab staff and students, scientific record keeping, data analysis and presentation of data at lab meetings, as well as general lab duties such as ordering supplies and lab organization and maintenance. The Technical Associate will be expected to work independently with occasional discussions and directions from the Pl, to complete initial data analysis of experimental results, to prepare publication quality figures, and to work with the Pl in the develop of new approaches and the design of future experiments.
