Function as a professional staff member supporting a comprehensive clinical research laboratory. Serve as laboratory liaison, secondary to the senior study coordinators with collaborators from the University of Rochester (UR) and numerous research centers throughout North America. Maintain all laboratory equipment and participate in collaborate research projects with multiple investigators. Provide technical support to principal investigators and study coordinators. Supervise maintenance of lab equipment. Assist in manuscript preparation by providing technical expertise based on research project objectives.
Under general direction and exercising independent judgment, function as a technical research associate and execute all necessary operations and experimental protocols according to project or grant objectives.
Provide technical support to study coordinators and collaborators. Prepare specimens for distribution to laboratories outside of University of Rochester Medical Center. Processing includes centrifuging, aliquoting, labeling, packaging, and forms preparation. Participates in research among multiple laboratories at the UR, other United States-based facilities, and international collaborators.
Review and evaluate laboratory results to ensure adherence to quality assurance and control procedures and review and evaluate quality of specimens generated by the lab and improve methods in the lab. Perform quality assurance on all data generated by the lab and perform analysis of data to ensure accurate reporting of results to the lab Director and investigators. Ensure the lab operates under Good Clinical Lab Practices. Coordinate and respond to audits. Respond to queries about quality of data from a centralized data management center. Develop changes in procedures to correct problems. Prepare quality assurance reports.
Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in health-related field preferred, and 1 year of related work experience involving direct assistance to researchers; or an equivalent combination of experience, training and education. Working knowledge of systems involved in specimen processing and analysis.How To Apply
