Work independently with only occasional suggestions in modifying, varying or adapting standard laboratory procedures to meet special needs of research projects. Design and perform experiments to quantify the B and CD4 T cell responses to human COVID convalescent samples as they become available, and human influenza studies, analyzed in parallel. This will involve two primary assays. First, the critical, and likely the major analytical tool, is intracytoplasmic staining with SARS-C0V-derived peptides or influenza derived peptides as controls, followed by multiparameter flow cytometry.cytokine. Also used to identify epitopes are cytokine Elispots, which involve purification of CD4 T cells, followed by cytokine Elispot assays to quantify responses to individual peptide epitopes, peptide pools, or whole antigens.
Develop analytical tools to dissect, analyze and display the cell surface phenotype and cytokine profiles of CD4 T cells as deduced by Multiparameter flow cytometry
Collect, record, and analyze results from research experiments and organize and prepare results for presentation at laboratory meetings; maintain detailed experimental records and present information to PI and others. Perform statistical treatment of resulting data.
Keep abreast of trends in field of interest by reading professional journals and attending meetings, institutes and seminars. Attend and participate in weekly lab meetings and relevant seminars, including regular meetings with the Principal Investigator (PI) to review data, propose experiments and discuss analyzes.
Prepare data for manuscripts on human COVID T cell assays, including charts, graphs, tables, illustrations.
Monitor and ensure training and compliance with Environmental Health and Safety – Occupational Safety Unit, Safety Training for Research Laboratory Personnel requirements specific to laboratory for all laboratory personnel. Ensure that health and safety practices are maintained in accordance with University
