Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Provides direct supervision, teaching support and the completion of dental laboratory procedures in the department for first, second and third year postdoctoral residents and selected faculty.
Responsibilities:
Under general direction and exercising independent technical judgement, is in charge of General Dentistry Dental Lab, or works independently in specialized assignments. The individual, working with considerable latitude for exercise of independent judgment, works closely with the General Dentistry Chair, Program Director, faculty, and Senior Operations Administrator.
Responsibilities include most or all of the following, as well as other related duties:
Maintains Dental Technology laboratory supervision, provides teaching support and direct technical “dental technology” supervision to residents and lab staff. Teach, supervise and carries out simple and complex conventional and digital dental laboratory procedures in the Department of General Dentistry for all postdoctoral residents and select faculty members. teaches laboratory techniques and instrument procedures to staff and residents; counsels them on technical problems; advises and assists them with special dental needs. Insures that health and safety practices are maintained in accordance with University policy and the law.
Performs digital and conventional (analog) procedures/prostheses in the dental laboratory. The individual is responsible for organizing, maintaining and improving adequate, well-equipped lab facilities to carry out patient care, research and educational activities in an efficient, high-quality manner. Following approved protocols for the conduct of developing and installing dental laboratory operating procedures.
Maintains contact with outside laboratories, vendors, and software/hardware companies in the management and direction of the General Dentistry Dental Laboratory and its technology component. Implements workflow and supervise their execution and outcomes to maximize efficiencies in the area of Dental Technology. Works independently on specialized assignments and suggest/implements changes in work practices. Seek/selects continuing professional education activities to support a constant learning environment the education of post-graduate residents.
Maintain workflows, both conventional and digital in the area of Dental Technology, so to maximize efficiencies and delivery of dental technology services. In collaboration with Sr. Operations Administrator and Chair, reviews implementation of continuous process improvement. Oversee and monitor all laboratory expenditures. Evaluate, identify and implement changes to control supply and overall costs. Responsible for the financial and administrative management of the General Dentistry Lab.
Interacts with Program Director to create didactic and technical preclinical courses for incoming residents.
Qualifications:
Graduate of a 2 year Dental Laboratory Technician Training program and/or equivalent work experience as approved by program chair. Two years of experience preferred. C.D.T. optional.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $ 22.02 - $ 36.06 Hourly
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
