POSITION SUMMARY
The Experimental Division is seeking an early career Scientist with expertise in design and operation of high energy ps- and ns-pulsed lasers. A successful candidate will have a strong optics knowledge and experience building laser systems and deploying diagnostics.
RESPONSIBLITIES :
Design, build, and trouble-shoot experimental systems that include short pulse lasers and interferometric diagnostics
Support the operation and improvement of existing and newly acquired equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experiments.
Work in an environment with a visible and audible laser operating at both single shot and constant 10 Hz rep rates.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
PhD in Physics, Optics, or related field
US Citizenship
Ability to obtain a security clearance
ESESSENTIAL SKILLS:
Knowledge of diode pumped laser architectures
Experience designing opto-mechanical and electrical systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software operation
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and navigate stairs/ladders
Excellent verbal and written communication
Work both independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience with programming language such as Python or C++ Experience with lens design software (Zemax, CODEV)
Technical writing experience and documentation skills
Attention to detail

SALARY RANGE: $100,000 to $140,000 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates are set within the job's compensation range, and determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
